@ Merrittville * THOROLD, ON – The Lucas Oil Slick Mist Family of Car Care products are set to assist Merrittville Speedway’s Reunion Committee in welcoming back many old friends Saturday July 12th when the Thorold track celebrates its 63rd Anniversary Season.
Once again hosted by Merrittville Speedway’s Reunion Committee headed by Chairmen Rick Kavanagh, the night salutes 62 years of dirt racing excitement at one of Canada’s oldest race tracks in addition to the annual Inductions into the L. St. Amand Enterprises Wall of Fame.
In the 63rd Anniversary Season, the Bobcat of Hamilton 358 Modifieds will be featured in the Jerry Winger Memorial Lucas Oil Slick Mist 50 Main Event in addition to the Rick’s Delivery Sportsman Division, Hoosier Stocks, J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites and Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders.
The Reunion Committee is also made up of former drivers – Jeno Begolo, Ted Renshaw Terry Huffman and Bill Willard Jr. as well as Mark Swartz and the Speedway’s Erica Bicknell-Jones and Jim Irvine. Kavanagh is the son of former Speedway owner Ken Kavanagh who is also a Wall of Fame Member.
The Reunion Committee has made their selections for the 2014 L. St. Amand Enterprises Wall of Fame and like since the start – each year’s honorees do not find out until Reunion night.
A huge part of the night is all the reminiscing that takes place in celebration of the track’s now 63 consecutive seasons. The Drivers of the past enjoy meeting with the fans of today – many that can remember the early days of the sport. Just as drivers today can be second or third generation, so too are some fans.
“Similar to our fans and teams of today and throughout our history, Lucas Oil has a passion for auto racing,” added Bicknell-Jones, “we are thrilled to be able to announce the continuation of our partnership that showcases their high performance products.”
Race Teams from all of Merrittville Speedway’s Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions – the Bobcat of Hamilton 358 Modifieds, Rick’s Delivery Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites and Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders will once again be in the running for Best Appearing Car Awards presented by Lucas Oil Slick Mist at the annual Awards Banquet.
Lucas Oil Nostalgia Night at Merrittville Speedway begins when the Great Clips Grandstand Ticket Office Opens at 5:30. Showtime is 7PM.
