THOROLD, ON – Boogity… boogity… boogity… the Big Blocks are returning to Merrittville Speedway and it will be up to one lucky race fan to unleash the excitement. When Miller’s Auto Recyclers opens Merrittville Speedway’s Holiday Doubleheader Saturday, August 4, with another David Chevrolet King of the Crates 50-lap $1,000 to win Sportsman Series Event and the final Grantham Lions Enduro Qualifier, race Fans will have one last chance to enter the 2012 Grand Marshall Draw.
The Bob St. Amand Sr. Memorial 100 lap Big Block Modified SuperDIRT Series Spectacular on Monday, August 6, needs a Grand Marshall to unleash the starting field by dropping the initial green flag, and that person could be you!
The countdown began on Modern Corporation’s Truck Show and Shine Night on July 7, and continued all month leading up to this Saturday Night’s draw.
To enter again or for the first time, contest ballots are available at the grandstand ticket office when you purchase your tickets. Fill it out and take it to the Novelty Trailer- it’s that simple.
One name will be picked from all the finalists and that lucky race fan will receive a special VIP package second to none that includes two tickets to the August 6th Bob St. Amand Memorial and two Club Castropignano pasta dinner tickets that kicks off the special night.
Merrittville Speedway’s Grand Marshall will assist in the front stretch activities including the Draws for both the Hoosier Stock Duel on the Dirt Event as well as the Big Block Re-draw.
When the field is set and the crowd is on the edge of their seats anticipating the 100 lap Main Event, it will be the Grand Marshall that turns them loose!
Throughout the night, Merrittville Speedway’s Grand Marshall will also participate in Victory Lane Ceremonies with photos as a remembrance of the unique event.
Bob St. Amand Senior was Merrittville Speedway’s 1972 Modified Points Champion and was inducted into the L. St. Amand Enterprises Wall of Fame by the Merrittville Speedway Reunion Committee in 2002.
When he retired from racing, he became Merrittville Speedway’s Pit Steward – a position he held right up to his passing in 2010.
In addition to the 100 lap Big Block Modified 100 lap event, the extravaganza will also feature a Hoosier Stock Duel on the Dirt Home Track Event.
The event also features the famous Club Castropignano pasta dinner and tickets are now available at the discounted rate of $10 until Saturday, August 4, increasing to $12 after. Tickets are available in the novelty booth, the bar and at the registration trailer in the pits.
