The Pen Centre is Building Excitement! Especially with the start of the Merrittville Speedway Race Car Show Monday March 19th signifying that the 2012 Racing Season is just a month away. Niagara’s largest shopping destination will play host to race teams representing each Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Saturday Night Division in addition to Tuesday Night Kart Racers from Monday March 19th to Sunday March 25th.
“Our week at the Pen Centre is a very important part of our pre-season as we prepare for our the new year,” adds Bicknell-Jones, “the opportunity to put a schedule into a shopper’s hand … for them to see the new race cars up close and take in the continuing renovations – it’s an effective way to attract new fans to our sport.”
The Pen Centre is Niagara’s largest shopping destination, featuring 180 stores and services and one million square feet of shopping fun. The Pen Centre is home to the most popular national stores and brands like Aeropostale, American Eagle, the Bay, H&M, HomeSense, Old Navy, Sears, SportChek, Winners and Zellers.
Two 2012 Rookies are set to debut their new race cars with Dillan Sliter and Austin Wood preparing to join the J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites and Original Pizza Logs Sportsman Divisions.
Joining Sliter are veterans Kellie Mason and Kory Howe in addition to fellow rookie Rob Goulding.
Along with Wood who makes the move to Sportsman this season from the Hoosier Stocks is Ron MacAulay and last season’s top two point finishers – first time champion Brad Rouse and Cody McPherson. Hoosier Stock Division Cars on display include those driven by veterans Mark Fawcett, Kevin Knapp, Jim Lampman and Cory Turner.
The Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinder Division will be represented by sophomore second generation driver Jeff Larmet in addition to veterans Brandon Iudicianni, Jason Coutu and Kyle Pelrine. Mat Williamson, Andrew Sittler and Scott Wood are set to show off their 358 Modifieds that will compete in the Bobcat of Hamilton sponsored Division.
Rounding out the display are drivers from the Tuesday Lucas Oil Weekly Karting Series line-up including brothers Nikolas and Joshua Hansen, Billy Sauder and Dalton Slack.
