@Merrittvville •THOROLD, Ontario (November 30, 2015) – Two first time champions were among the many honorees as the Merrittville Speedway Kart Club celebrated the 2015 Lucas Oil Weekly Karting Series Season Sunday November 29th at rural Thorold’s Club Castropignano.

The first of the first time Champions was Joshua Hansen of Vineland who won his first Superior PetroFuels Performance Manufacturing Junior Restricted Point Championship with 12 wins resulting in 776 points.

Hansen was unable to attend the event as he was competing in a race at the Georgia Karting Komplex in Carnesville, GA.

In the Wilder Racing Engines Performance Manufacturing Senior Animal Division, Dylan Culp of Niagara Falls also won his 1st career title winning 5 features and totaling 738 points.

Tucker Wood of Stevensville was the first of two repeat champions. Wood’s 13 wins in 15 starts led to 780 points and his 2nd straight title in the RCM Racing Equipment Performance Manufacturing Junior 1 Division.

The 2015 Season had Wood ‘Racing for Rainbows’ in memory of his friend Alivia Vanderklei who passed away at 4 ½ from Neuroblastoma Cancer. From race winnings, matching funds from his sponsors and donations from family and friends – an approximate $1,000 donation was made to Alivia’s Rainbows, a foundation that helps families dealing with pediatric cancer situations.
