@Merrittville •@SOSSprints •September 8, 2016 THOROLD, ONTARIO – Niagara’s Complete Concrete Contractor is set to launch Merrittville Speedway’s 65th Season Finale with a rare Friday Event September 9.
The opening night of the 2016 TUSA Canadian Nationals for the Rev’s Full Throttle Power Sports Modified Lites will feature the final event for the Southern Ontario Sprints in addition to the finale of the Eataly Foods Pro 4 Truck Triple Truck Challenge.
Rounding out the first of three events of the weekend will be the Van Raine Construction 4 Cylinders and Qualifying Heats for Sunday’s Ballhockey.com 100 lap Enduro accelerated by Niagara College.
“You couldn’t ask for a better line up for a Friday Night,” said (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, “some of the best Modified Lite Drivers from across North America … Sprint Cars … the finale for our new Truck Series … exciting 4 Cylinder action and who knows what the Enduro Heats will bring!”
In the opener last season, Derek Wagner came home the winner with Paul Klager winning round two which was rain-delayed until Saturday April 23rd’s Rev’s Full Throttle Power Sports Spring Sizzler.
Although some more may be raised – between Lap and Event Package Sponsorships in addition to T Shirt Sales almost $5,000 has been raised to date to be shared by drivers during the annual 2 day event for the Modifed Lites.

For the second straight season, the Friday Night Event concludes the Southern Ontario Sprint Season.
Oakland Ontario teenager Dylan Westbrook has already clinched the 21st Season Championship for the SOS with Port Colborne’s Shawn Sliter sitting in second spot. Sliter is quite familiar with Merrittville’s d-shaped oval as is Pinty’s 358 Modified Driver Ryan Susice who has declared his intentions of joining the field.
Other Sprint Car drivers that know the Thorold track well include the Turner’s – Jamie and his sons Ryan and Cory, Travis Cunningham, Chris Steele, Mikey Kruchka and others following the Series or those who usually compete Friday Nights at the Ohsweken Speedway.
Friday’s Event also includes the finale of the new for 2016 Eataly Foods Pro 4 Truck Triple Truck Challenge. Danny Wurster and Craig Vlasic have shared trips to Victory Lane in the first two events.

Race fans are probably still talking about perhaps one of the most incredible finishes in the 65 year history of Merrittville Speedway in last week’s 4 Cylinder Feature. 4 Drivers took the white flag 4 wide and ran the entire last lap with the winner not clear until the final time out of Turn 4.
Drivers looking to get some seat time and a better starting spot for Sunday’s Ballhockey.com 100 lap Enduro accelerated by Niagara College will compete in Heats rounding out the program.
