Thorold, Ontario (February 27) – With 20 years of Kart Racing at Merrittville Speedway celebrated in 2013 – more and more Saturday Night Stars can say that they got their starts in karting.

Tuesday Nights at Merrittville are reserved for the Lucas Oil Weekly Karting Series and while returning drivers are preparing for the start of the Thorold facility’s 21st season on the infield track – for many … the season will start with the Annual RCM Racing Equipment Kart School on Sunday April 20th.

“It’s a must for first time Novice and new karters from any division,” informs (RCM Racing Equipment’s) Chris Long, “but karters of any age and level are welcome.”

In class and on track sessions will teach and develop entry level or inexperienced karters the basics of karting – focusing on understanding the track rules and providing basic instruction of kart setups, maintenance procedures and proper driving techniques. Karters looking for further details can click on http://www.merrittvillespeedway.com/pdfs/Go%20Kart%20Driving%20School%202014.pdf

“I’d like to give special thanks to Chris Long and Paul Klager for giving another generation of drivers a chance to learn proper driving techniques.” relayed incoming Kart Race Director Jeff Riley, ”  The school encourages a fun, competitive and most importantly a safe driving environment.”

The day-long event begins with a Classroom Session in Dippers Turn 1 Meeting Facility which is located in behind the Turn 1 Grandstand from 8:30 AM to 12 PM.

On track portions are set from 1 PM until 5 PM after a lunch which is included in the Registration Fees.

Registration is $75.00 per karter and one crew member. Karters wishing to take in just the on track portion can do so for a $25 Entry Fee. Pit Crew Members entering the Pits for the on track session only can do so for $10. Karters and Crew Members must register by April 1st.

“For karters, especially our younger ones – the earlier they learn safe driving skills … the better they will become in the future,” added Riley,  “the school is important to the new karting parent as well.  The information they will learn on chassis set up, tire preparation and overall kart maintenance is invaluable to a good karting program.”
