PETERBOROUGH, Ontario (October 8, 2021)—- The consistent ability to put himself up front paid off for Jaeger McMaster, as he scored his first career OSCAAR Hot Rod feature at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic.
Meanwhile, the consistency from Steve Book paid off as he was crowned the 2021 OSCAAR Hot Rod Series Champion.
Amanda Balson won the first heat in front of Tom Walters, Trevor Thompson, Dave Waite, Bill Clarke, Ryan Cowan, and Gary Hannah.
Jeremy McLean was victorious in the second qualifier ahead of Steve Book, Jaeger McMaster, John Lavalle, Jerry Broom, and Mike Weitz.
Tyler Hawn picked up the checkered flag in the third round followed by Nick Clarke, Jaymee Adams, Adam Tyo, Mat Hopkins, and Sean Walker.
Dave Waite won the fourth heat in front of Thompson, Lavalle, Broom, Walters, McLean, and Hannah.
Steve Book was victorious in the second qualifier ahead of McMaster, Nick Clarke, Walker, Wietez, and Tyo, while Bogensberger Jr. did not take the green flag.
Amanda Balson went for the daily double followed by Hawn, Cowan, Adams, Bill Clarke, and Hopkins.
Come feature time, Jaeger McMaster would be your pole sitter in front of Trevor Thompson, Amanda Balson, Tyler Hawn, Steve Book, Dave Waite, Nick Clarke, Jeremy McLean, Jaymee Adams, Tom Walters, John Lavalle, Jerry Broom, Ryan Cowan, Bill Clarke, Adam Tyo, Sean Walker, Mike Weitz, Mat Hopkins, and Gary Hannah. Notably, McLean elected to start tail of the field, while Herb Walters filled in for Tom Walters, bumping the No. 47w to the back.
Jaeger McMaster took the early advantage in front of Thompson and Book, as Balson made her way down pit road with problems. Hawn moved into fourth in front of Nick Clarke, Adams, Waite, Lavalle, and Broom. Book would move into second on Lap 4, bringing Hawn and Clarke through with him. Hawn then got by Book for second two laps later, as Thompson ran fifth as Adams and Waite battled for sixth in front of Lavalle.
Walters drive through the field would see him running sixth as of Lap 11 ahead of Waite, Lavalle, Adams, McLean, Broom, Cowan and Hopkins, as Weitz and Paul Bogensberger Jr. battled for 14th. Bogensberger Jr. took the spot on Lap 12, passing Hopkins a lap later.
Bogensberger Jr.’s run was halted on Lap 15, as the motor would let go, laying fluid all the way around the speedway, with Thompson and Nick Clarke getting caught up in the fluid.
Jaeger McMaster got a good restart ahead of Hawn and Book, with Waite up to fourth in front of Thompson, Adams, Broom, McLean, Hopkins and Lavalle, as Hannah and Walters battled for 11th. Walters got the spot on Lap 21, as Bill Clarke and Walker rounded out the top-14.
McLean then got by Broom for seventh on Lap 22, bringing Hopkins through with him, as Walters moved back up to 10th ahead of Lavalle and Hannah, as Clarke and Tyo ran side-by-side for 13th. Walters would then get by Broom for ninth on Lap 25, with Tyo clearing Clarke for 13th.
The progress continued for Walters as he passed Hopkins for eighth on Lap 27, with Adams and McLean side-by-side for sixth. Walters’ progress would see him pass both, running sixth as of Lap 30, with McLean seventh in front of Hopkins, Broom, Adams, Lavalle, Tyo, and Walker.
Book would challenge Hawn for second on Lap 32, though was unable to complete the pass as he slotted back in line. Behind them, Thompson got alongside Waite for fourth, with Waite going up the track on Lap 36 as the pair tried to get around the lap car of Hannah. This would allow Thompson to take over fourth on Lap 35, only to lose it a lap later to Walters.
Jaeger McMaster led the rest of the way en route to scoring the victory in front of Tyler Hawn, Steve Book, Herb Walters, and Trevor Thompson.
