LONDON, ON- Following an impressive opening night victory on May 29th, defending Delaware Speedway Late Model champion Matt Pritiko will be back in weekly action this Friday, June 19th.
“We were really good the last time we were at Delaware,” says Pritiko from his team’s London, ON race shop. “It’s always nice to start off a season with a win. But, with that being said, there’s always room for improvement”
“We’ve been working on a few new setup combinations and we’re going to try them out on Friday,” continues the reigning champion. “Finding out what works and what doesn’t is the only way our program can improve”
Although he will enter Friday’s event with the Delaware points lead, Pritiko maintains the evening will alternately serve as a testing session for Round 3 of the APC United Late Model Series scheduled for Delaware on June 26th.
“This Friday is going to give us the perfect opportunity to fine tune ourselves for next week’s tour event,” explains Pritiko. “It’s likely that there will be quite a few out-of-towners looking to do the same thing – so it should give us a safe indication of where we stack up on our home turf”
“Our goal this season is to chase the APC Series title – but we’ll still be at every single one of Delaware’s events,” clarifies the well-spoken standout.
“Winning both championships would most definitely be a best-case scenario for us”
With a pair of top-10 finishes in the first two rounds of APC Series competition at Sunset and Flamboro, Pritiko hopes the added seat time at Delaware will provide a home track advantage on June 26th.
“I don’t think it’s much of a secret that Delaware isn’t an easy place to figure out,” says the London, ON native. “We’ve spent the last two rounds on the road, so it’s going to be a nice change of pace to be in some familiar surroundings next Friday”
“The setup combinations that we’re trying are based on what we had in the car late last season – except with some pretty crucial changes,” continues Pritiko. “I’m grateful to have the track tome – in race trim – to figure what we like and don’t like about them. This way, we know exactly what we have heading into next Friday – and we won’t be scrambling to make adjustments on race day.”
