LONDON, ON- 2014 Delaware Speedway Late Model championship hopeful Matt Pritiko will kick his season off ‘on the road’ this Saturday, in the first round of the Delaware-Flamboro APC Six Pack Series.
“This is only going to be our second time racing at Flamboro, so I’m not really sure what to expect”, admitted Pritiko as he worked to put the finishing touches on his McColl Racing Enterprises entry. “We were down there for the Gold Rush 100, and had a strong racecar but ended up wrecked right after halfway. So we don’t have a whole lot of information to go off of in terms of strategy or setup”
Pritiko won’t be alone as he works to get a handle on Flamboro’s demanding surface, a number of fellow Delaware regulars will make the trip with him, as they look to steal Round 1 of the APC Six Pack Series from their Flamboro counterparts.
“We’ll see how much information the Delaware guys are willing to share”, laughed Pritiko. “There aren’t many of us with a tonne of experience at Flamboro, so it might be a race within a race to see which of us can figure it out first”
The event will mark Pritiko’s 2014 Late Model debut, after he earned a top-20 in his NASCAR Canadian Tire Series debut on May 18th.
“The NCATS deal was awesome”, smiled Pritiko. “I had an absolute blast in that car at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, but I’m happy to finally get the Late Model out. There’s something about these cars that I can’t get enough. They’re fun to race, and I can’t wait to get back out there after the great ending to our 2013 season”
“Flamboro is definitely going to take some strategy”, continued Pritiko. “There’s a chance it might be a bit of a rough one, so it might pay off to just ride for a while and turn it on with 20-to-go. Flamboro’s deceptively fast and it’s real narrow, so things happen there in a hurry and you don’t have a whole lot of room to work with”
“There a lot of guys at Flamboro that I’m really looking forward to racing with. They’ve got some top tier competitors like Shawn Chenoweth and Dale Shaw. I’m sure it’s going to be a tonne of fun”
The APC 100 is schedule for Saturday, May 24th. Gate times and ticket prices are available at www.FlamboroSpeedway.net.
