FLAMBORO, ON- Delaware Speedway regular Matt Pritiko continued his string of impressive performances away from home, working his way to a 2nd place finish in the 4th round of the APC Six Pack Series at Flamboro Speedway.
“Every time we come down to Flamboro this season, we seem to find a way to the front, I’m starting to absolutely love this place”, remarked Pritiko upon clearing post-race technical inspection.
“My team deserves all the credit tonight, they made sure I had a car that could compete”, continued Pritiko. “This car was fantastic in the second half of this race, and my guys deserve a tonne of praise for that”
Pritiko was forced to recover from an 8th place qualifying run, after being penalized for missing his initial time trial run.
“I missed my spot in the lineup, so we only got one lap of qualifying, that definitely hurt us”, explained Pritiko.
“We noticed a seal in the hub was leaking as we were pushing the car to time trials, and as we were fixing it we missed our spot. Coming through the field definitely wasn’t in our initial game plan, but I was happy we were able to overcome it”
The current Delaware Speedway point leader would dog eventual race winner Dale Shaw through the dying laps, but could not close the gap enough to make a significant run at the race lead.
“Dale’s a fantastic talent, and I have a blast running with him in this mini-series. He had an awesome piece tonight, and we just couldn’t get the drive off of the corner to catch him”
“We had clutch problems all night, which definitely played a part in our performance. But, I don’t want to make excuses. Dale had an awesome run, and he for sure deserved the win tonight”
With this performance, Pritiko has now yet to finish outside of the top-3 in 4 trips to Flamboro Speedway this season.
“We decided to put more of a focus on our Flamboro program at the beginning of the season, and it’s paid off in spades”, smiled Pritiko.
“Two wins, a 2nd and a 3rd are some fantastic numbers for this team. It really feels as though everything is starting to come together for us”.
Matt Pritiko will head back out on the road this Sunday, August 3rd as he competes in Sauble Speedway’s ‘Beat the Heat 150’.
