LONDON, ON (May 14, 2019)- ~ Longtime Pro Late Model standout Matt Pritiko will hope to kickstart his bid for an APC United Late Model Series championship this Saturday at Sunset Speedway.
The London, ON native has never won at the Innisfil, ON oval, though it certainly has not been for a lack of trying.
“When you run on this tour it doesn’t take long to understand just how many things have to go your way to win,” explains Pritiko. “Our team has brought some phenomenal cars to Sunset over the last four seasons but we just haven’t had that picture-perfect night that we’ve been working for. Hopefully Saturday breaks that streak”
While Pritiko is still chasing a first Sunset Speedway win, his Global Warranty-sponsored team is no stranger to winning with the cross-province tour, and hope to expand on their two career APC United Late Model Series triumphs en route to a 2019 championship.
“This team has spent four years on the tour so far and we’ve found something to like about every season so far,” says Pritiko. “But, we’ve also found the things that we know we needed to improve”
“2019 is all about putting together everything we’ve done right in the past and all the changes we’ve made after learning from our mistakes. There’s no doubt in my mind that this is a championship-level operation – we just have to put all of the pieces together in the right way”
Pritiko hopes to find his footing early this season, starting with a convincing performance at Sunset.
“With a ten-round schedule you can’t have too many missteps if you want to race for a championship,” notes the former Delaware Speedway champion. “It won’t take much more than one or two bad nights to take you out of contention in the points. So, we absolutely don’t want to dig ourselves a hole this early in the year”
“I have all the confidence in the world that my team is going to have a car that can contend with the best guys in the province. From there, it’s really all about my ability to bring us a good run in time trials and then make the right decisions for 100-laps.”
