FLAMBORO, ON- Matt Pritiko dominated Flamboro Speedway on June 14th, leading every single lap of competition to claim Round 1 of the Grisdale Triple Crown Tournament.
“I don’t think we could have asked for a better car tonight”, said Pritiko. “My crew won this race for me. They nailed the setup perfectly. I was just the lucky guy that got to wheel it to victory lane”
Pritiko took top-qualifier honours, and rolled off the grid from the inside pole position, wasting little time in taking sole control of the lead.
“Our experience here has taught us that the safest place to run here is at the front”, offered Pritiko with a smile. “The game plan was to grab the lead early, and do our best to hang on to it. Fortunately, we were able to implement it perfectly. This car ran like a dream tonight”
The London, ON driver would turn back a number of late-race challenges from Flamboro veteran David Elliott, in a battle reminiscent on Pritiko’s previous trip to Flamboro at May 24th’s APC 100.
“We didn’t have anything for David when we were here last, so it was nice to hold him off tonight”, explained the 2013 Great Canadian 200 winner. “He’s been one of the best guys on the Flamboro roster, so beating him definitely reaffirms that we’re heading in the right direction with our Flamboro program”
“This track is really starting to grown on me”, continued Pritiko. “It’s a driver’s track. You have to be up on the wheel every single lap, but I feel as though that compliments my style perfectly”
The extended-distance win provides excellent momentum for Pritiko, who will now shift focus to Delaware Speedway’s 100-lap APC Six Pack Series event on June 27th.
“It feels like the longer these races are, the better we’re able to perform”, said Pritiko. “It’ll be nice to take a break for a couple weeks and find out how to make our car even better. It’s great to represent Delaware out on the road, but a win at home will feel even sweeter”
Matt Pritiko will strap back into his Pro Late Model on Friday, June 27th, when Delaware Speedway hosts Round 2 of the APC Six Pack Series. Gate times and ticket prices can be found at www.DelawareSpeedway.com
