LONDON, ON- Months removed from his first career Pro Late Model championship, former road course standout Matt Pritiko is ready for another full season of short track competition.
The London, ON native will return to Delaware Speedway to defend his track championship, in addition to an aggressive touring schedule that will take Pritiko and team clear across Ontario.
“I think we might end up being even busier than we were last year,” laughs Pritiko when asked his plans for the 2015 season.
“In the last year, we’ve really hit our stride as a team,” continues the well-spoken wheelman. “There’s not a night in which we roll this car off the trailer and I don’t think we have a shot to win the race”
Fresh off his first career track championship, it’s clear Pritiko is ready to do what it takes to stay atop the division.
“We were runner-up in the standings for three years in a row before we finally won a championship,” says Pritiko. “I’m not ready to go back to second. We’ve seen enough of second place. We’re ready to do whatever’s necessary to keep our place at the top of the class and defend our championship”
“When we roll through the gates, it’s all business. I appreciate every person I’ve met through this sport, but we’re not there to make friends – we’re there to win. I’m ready to give 2015 everything I have”
“We’re not going to let anyone outwork us, that’s for sure,” adds Pritiko.
When asked about his program away from Delaware, Pritiko remains confident.
“I think we have as good of a program as anybody else in Ontario,” states Pritiko. “We may not have the same amount of laps around a lot of these places as we do at Delaware, but we’ve had some really strong finishes at virtually every track on the APC Tour schedule”
“When I first came over to Late Model racing, I didn’t have the experience that I have now to fall back on,” continues Pritiko. “Every night was all about adapting to the track and the drivers around me. That’s exactly what the game plan is going to be for the APC Tour. We’re going to learn as we go, and see if we can’t come into someone else’s backyard and sneak out with a win or two”
Pritiko will also return to Flamboro Speedway for the three-race Grisdale Triple Crown Tournament in 2015, after winning the mini-series championship last year.
“Flamboro is a track that, for whatever reason, I’m really comfortable at,” says Pritiko. “We had three really good performances in the Triple Crown last season, and I’m excited to go back and defend that championship”
“It’s a far more technical track than people give it credit for,” continues Pritiko. “We had a lot of fun there in 2014, and it’s definitely going to be one of the highlights of our schedule this season.”
