FLAMBORO, ON- Matt Pritiko continued his impressive 2014 campaign on July 5th, taking Round 2 of the lauded Grisdale Triple Crown Tournament at Flamboro Speedway.
The London, ON driver – eager for a bounce back after a frustrating outing at Delaware Speedway’s Canada Day 100 – slipped past multi-time Flamboro victor David Elliott just past the halfway mark, and held on for his second straight Grisdale Triple Crown win.
“This car was on rails today, I really can’t thank this team enough”, beamed Pritiko. “Everytime we have a good run, I go home thinking ‘I don’t know if we can get this car any better’ and somehow my guys pull it off”
“We beat ourselves up after Delaware last Friday”, admitted Pritiko. “We’re better than that, and we know it. So, it’s frustrating when you have one of those nights that you just can’t get it going. Thankfully, every time we have an off night, we find a way to come back even stronger. This was an awesome run”
Pritiko was quick to credit the Flamboro Speedway talent on a hard-fought race, when asked about the action-packed 75-lap affair.
“These guys are so good down here”, explained the reigning Great Canadian 200 champion, “anytime you pull through those gates, you know you’re going to have to work for every spot. It’s always a pleasure racing with David [Elliott], and I think Dale [Shaw] is as good a young driver as any in the province right now”
“I’d race wheel to wheel with those two any day”, added Pritiko with a smile.
The Matt Pritiko Motorsports team will have a quick turnaround, as they prepare to return to action this Friday, July 11th at Delaware Speedway.
Team sponsor Burwell Auto Body will present the evening’s festivities, a fact that will provide some added motivation for the driver of the No. 21.
“You always feel a little extra lead in your boot when you’re racing in front of your sponsors”, said Pritiko. “Burwell’s a family business, so we’ll have lots of relatives and friends there, too. It would definitely be a cool feeling to roll into victory lane and meet everyone there, so you could definitely say we’re more motivated than usual”
