LONDON, ON- Late Model star Matt Pritiko will get back to his road racing roots this Sunday, August 10th at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres in his return to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1.
Pritiko will campaign a Derek White Motorsports entry in the ‘JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours’, with assistance from DJK Racing’s DJ Kennington.
“I can’t explain how excited I am to get back to Trois Rivieres”, beamed Pritiko. “The fact that I get to do so with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series makes it even more special. It’s been a while since I’ve ran that course, but I remember exactly how challenging it can be, and I hope to draw on my experience this weekend”
The London, ON standout made a trio of appearances at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres during his time spent competing with the Grand Am Series, highlighted by a 4th place finish in 2007.
“Any street course is tough, but with Trois Rivieres that’s especially true”, explained Pritiko. “It’s tight and it’s very demanding. There’s a lot of ways to get yourself out of shape if you’re not careful”
The JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours will mark Pritiko’s second career appearance with NCATS, after battling through alternator troubles to a 16th place finish in his series debut at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in May.
“I’ve been looking forward to this event since we left CTMP”, admitted Pritiko. “Despite our difficulties, we had a great car that afternoon and didn’t get the chance to show it. I’m definitely hoping for a better result this weekend”
“We’re going to have phenomenal equipment under us, thanks to Derek White and his team. And [Crew Chief] Jim Ireland will be back calling the shots for us. I love the program we’ve assembled for this race. Hopefully we can put our patience to good use, wait out any mid-race craziness and make a late-race push for a top-5”
“If there’s one NCATS show to be a part of, this is it”, continued Pritiko. “The GP3R is an incredible experience. It’s an atmosphere unlike any other, and it will be an absolute honour to be able to say I raced there with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series”
