WALKERTON, ON- After an extended Pro Late Model hiatus, multi-time Sauble Speedway Ltd. Late Model feature winner Marvin Freiburger will be back with the APC United Late Model Series at Sunset Speedway on August 23rd.
The fan-favourite had initially planned on fielding an entry in all eight tour events this season, however a devastating wreck in Round 1 of the tour on May 23rd threatened to sideline Freiburger’s upstart Pro Late Model venture completely.
Finally, after an entire summer’s worth of work, the personable driver will be back in action when the tour rolls into Sunset Speedway for Round 7 of its freshman season on Sunday afternoon.
“It’s felt like this car has been calling out to me for weeks,” laughs Freiburger from his Walkteron, ON shop. “This is one of the most gorgeous racecars I’ve ever owned – and it’s far too nice to be sitting in the corner of my shop. I can’t wait to roll it out of the trailer on Sunday”
After suffering the setback to his Pro Late Model program, Freiburger has dedicated himself entirely to his weekly Ltd. Late Model effort at Sauble Speedway, and currently sits 4th in points after logging a top-5 finish in his most recent outing on August 15th.
“We’ve been waiting to get back on the tour for a long time now,” explains Freiburger. “When you look at the level of talent on the roster, it’s easy to see why the races have been as good as they have. We’ve had a fantastic season so far at Sauble, and I would love more than anything to be able to enjoy the same kind of success in our Pro Late Model”
“We know that the best of the best will be in the pits on Sunday,” continues the former Thunder Car feature winner. “We’re just looking forward to seeing where we match up with them”
“We don’t get to race at Sunset very often, but we have a great time whenever we’re there. It doesn’t matter what happens on the track or what the results are at the end of the night – the facility, the people and the fans are some of the best around. That’s what matters to us”
“Our team raised $1,248 for Easter Seals at Sauble a couple of weeks ago with our steam engine corn roast and, without question, that felt better than any feature win ever will,” adds Freiburger. “I’m at the speedway to enjoy myself and spend time with good people. If I’ve done that – and everyone is smiling at the end of the night – then it’s time well spent.”
