WALKERTON, ON- Sauble Speedway Late Model veteran Marvin Freiburger has dedicated this Saturday, September 5th to raising money at ‘the Beach’ for the Easter Seals. This should come as no surprise to anyone, seeing as how Freiburger has been partnered with the organization from the moment he built his first racecar in 2010. However, this Saturday is a little bit different. Because ‘Marvellous’ Marvin is issuing a challenge.
Three weeks ago, Freiburger’s sponsor Pine Echo Campground, rolled into the speedway with a busload of 50 fans and supporters. The fans, wearing their Team 37 garb, helped raise $650.00 for Easter Seals with the assistance of Marvin’s wife Angela and Sauble Speedway promoter Jason Thom. This weekend, Freiburger is hoping to eclipse that mark.
“I’ve got the best sponsors in the sport, and Sauble is one of the best tracks around, and our whole team sees this as a fantastic way to combine the two,” smiles Freiburger. “We raised $650 last time, with this challenge I’d like to think that we can double that. Our fans love racing and they love making people’s lives better. This is the best of both worlds “
Freiburger is encouraging his fans, sponsors and their staff to join him at Sauble this Saturday, September 5th (the last night of racing @ Sauble) to benefit the children’s charity. Green flag will drop at 7pm and fans are encouraged to arrive early as the Team 37 memorabilia is going fast.
“We’re all racers and we all want to win, but when you partner with something special like the Easter Seals, it just makes everything mean that much more,” explains the Walkerton, ON racer and business owner. “Raising money for these kids feels every bit as good as winning one of these races, so hopefully we can pack the grandstands and do something amazing for the kids that depend on this amazing charity”
“There was a sea of blue shirts on August 15th, and I can’t wait to see that again,” continues Freiburger. “We have the support of some amazing people – over 100 businesses and race fans have signed on to be a part of our 2015 season – and I know that we can all come together and make a difference in the last two race nights of the season”
In addition to raising money for people in need, Freiburger will look for his second feature win of the 2015 season on Saturday, as he enters the event just behind championship leader Josh Stade with aims of keeping his current title hopes alive.
“If we can park this car in victory lane, with all of our supporters in the stands, I can promise you we won’t stop celebrating until the birds start chirping,” beams the personable veteran. “This team has never lost a party. And we don’t intend on starting now. We’re going to race this car to the front of the field, and raise some money for charity in the process, and I want to see every single one of our partners in the grandstands while we do it.”
