WALKERTON, ON- Sauble Speedway weekly competitor and multiple-time feature winner Marvin Freiburger will follow the inaugural APC United Late Model Series Tour in 2015.
The Walkerton, ON driver will share driving duties on the tour with fellow veteran – and Sauble Speedway Promoter – Jason Thom, with the pair planning to compete in all 8 races on the inaugural Pro Late Model Tour.
“I can’t tell you how excited we are for the 2015 season”, beamed the personable Freiburger. “Between racing the Sauble Speedway schedule and being out on the road with the APC Tour, this could be our busiest season yet”.
“Our team likes to keep as busy as possible, so as soon as I heard about the tour, I knew that we had to find a way to get involved”.
Freiburger and Thom have co-purchased a Port City Racing chassis formerly driven by Michigan standout Brian Campbell for the 8-race Tour. The acquisition of a second chassis will allow Freiburger to focus on his first Sauble Speedway Championship whilst still supporting the upstart series.
“Picking up a second car was something we knew we had to do”, said Freiburger. “I don’t like to do anything halfheartedly, and in order to put 100% of my effort into our weekly racing as well as competing on the tour, we had to have two separate rides”.
The upstart tour will take the team clear across Ontario, with a pair of events at Sunset, Flamboro and Delaware, as well as single appearances at Peterborough and Sauble.
“I think our weekly program is as strong as it’s ever been, but I have some work to do when it comes to racing away from Sauble”, says ‘Marvellous Marvin’. “We’ve wanted to sharpen our skillset when it comes to racing away from home for a couple years now. This schedule will give us the perfect opportunity to get better”.
“I believe, in any kind of competition, you’re only as good as the people you’re matched against”, continues Marvin. “Racing against this level of competition all Summer long will only make us better. I’ve read the rumoured roster, and if it’s even half correct, I know that we’re in for one heck of a challenge. I’m positive it won’t be easy, but I couldn’t be more excited for the challenge”.
The team has not yet divvied up the races between Freiburger and Thom, but Marvin assured that regardless of where he unloads, he’ll be ready to compete.
“Jason and I will have to sit down over the next few weeks and figure out who’s going to race where, but it doesn’t really matter to me. I’m just excited to be a part of this. I’ll support this tour in any way that I can. No matter where our hauler ends up, I can promise that when the trailer door swings open, we’ll be ready to give it our all and put on a show for our friends, fans and sponsors”.
Marvin Freiburger’s Pro Late Model endeavours are in addition to his weekly Limited Late Model program at Sauble Speedway that “Wins for Easter Seals”.
