WALKERTON, ON- After a seasons’ worth of close calls and near misses, Late Model veteran ‘Marvellous’ Marvin Freiburger claimed an emphatic victory in Sauble Speedway’s ‘Battle at the Beach’ on July 11th for his first victory of the 2015 season.
“This is such an incredible feeling,” beamed Freiburger upon climbing from his winning ride. “I knew this team could do it. I knew that we had what it took if we just kept working at it”
The win comes after several weeks of strong performances that landed Freiburger a number of close encounters with victory lane – in the perennially competitive Sauble Speedway Late Model division.
“We’ve been so close all season,” explained ‘Marvellous’ Marvin. “These guys never gave up. I have the best crew a driver could ever ask for. We’ve had some long hours trying to wake this car up – but getting the win in front of a full grandstand of our friends and fans makes it all worthwhile”
The non-points victory will set Freiburger up nicely for a run through the second half of the 2015 season, as he continues to chase local standouts Tim Ellis, Josh Stade and Jason Parker for his first career division championship.
“This division is so tough to win in,” said the personable veteran. “These guys all know what they’re doing. Our program has been getting better and better every weekend. The first win is always the toughest to get out of the way. But, I truly believe we’re good enough to give every one of these teams a run for their money on any given Saturday”
With 6 Late Model events still remaining on the Sauble Speedway schedule, Freiburger’s family-run operation could find themselves readying for a hot streak at just the right time.
“We still have half the season left,” continues Freiburger from victory lane. “That’s going to give us more than a few chances to get back here. If we can get this car working as good as it did tonight – I think we should be able to give the rest of these teams something to look out for.”
‘Marvellous’ Marvin Freiburger will return to competition at Sauble for July 29th’s ‘Dash for Cash’ invitational. Details for the event, including gate times and ticket prices, can be found at www.SaubleSpeedway.ca.
The team is actively looking for volunteers to aide in their efforts to raise money for Easter Seals – those interested can contact Marvin’s wife Angela at home 519-881-1379 or on her cell 519-889-2349. Team members will meet new people, make new friends and support a phenomenal cause.
