Antigonish, Nova Scotia/ August 17, 2013- Martin Roy overcame vehicle trouble late in the race to have a solid point’s night and a Top 5 finish on Saturday at the Wilson Equipment 300.
Martin Roy worked out the kinks in his #90 Batteries Expert/Gamache Dodge in practice, making carburetor adjustments when the car was running hot. The changes to the vehicle were successful, and Roy ran stronger in practice and qualifying, securing a second place start for the race at the Riverside International Speedway.
the #90 Dodge had a strong performance, keeping up with the frontrunners the entire night.
“We were chasing the handling a little bit, but overall we were pleased with the car’s performance,” said Crew Chief Mario Gosselin.
The vehicle’s troubles caught up with Roy towards the final laps of the race; where he crossed the finish line in fifth place after battling a flat right front tire, suspension damage and the handling kinks.
“When the car was good in the corner, it wouldn’t come off in the corner. When it did some off in the corner it was right in the center,” Gosselin said after the race.
After yesterday’s race, Martin Roy tied for fifth place overall with 310 points.
“We had a very good car despite the minor issues we faced,” Roy said. “But a fifth place result is a good point’s result for us.”
