@johnsonvilleCA •@NASCARHomeTrack •#NPS •#NASCARPintysSeries • #LucasOil250 •September 13th, 2016, Ayr, ON – Adam Martin equalled his career-best fourth place finish in the Lucas Oil 250 NASCAR Pinty’s series race at Autodrome St. Eustache near Montreal Saturday night. The Ayr teenager was fastest when it counted in his Johnsonville-sponsored machine nearly nipping his veteran teammate for third place on the final lap.
“This was exactly the race we wanted to run,” said an elated Martin after the event. “We wanted to keep the car in one piece for 200 laps, and then charge to the finish in the final 50.”
Martin narrowly avoided a late-race crash, and then he made the most of a green-white-checker finish to close on his teammate Mark Dilley to battle for third.
“I had a run on the inside of Mark (Dilley) on the last lap, but I didn’t want to risk crashing both of us out of a great finish,” said Martin. “I’m really happy for Micks Motorsports. A pair of top-four finishes tonight is just what the team needed.”
The team raced with heavy hearts Saturday as long-time crew member ‘Sponge’ Bob DeWolde lost his mother early in the week. He was all smiles following the race.
“I’m glad Bob chose to make the trip this weekend,” said Martin. “He lives for racing, and it’s great to see a smile on his face.”
Martin isn’t expected to compete in the final race of the season this weekend near Peterborough, Ontario. The team chose to race a select few events this year in order to focus on racing for Rookie of the Year honours in 2017 on the series.
Martin is supported by Johnsonville Sausage, Olivier’s Chocolates and Candies, Reser’s Fine Foods, Secure Drive, STIHL Canada, Little Potato Company and Legacy Auto Leasing as sponsors. –
