Trois-Rivieres (Quebec, Canada), May 14th, 2013 – It is with high confidence that Louis-Philippe Dumoulin begins his second complete season in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in Bowmanville, Ontario, this weekend. The testing held on May 6th was conclusive and the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare car plans to demonstrate his determination by reaching the podium.
Last week, the team conducted several on track tests with the new 2013 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare car adapted for road racing. “The test went well. Right from the start, the car was fast, even though it was equiped with used tires. It is encouraging,” he says. “The whole team has worked hard and is very motivated.”
The adjustments on the #47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare car are the same as those used by Scott Steckly last year when he secured the pole position on the same circuit. Some changes have been made especially in the configuration of the suspension.
“Scott has also tested the car and we reached the same conclusions. Thanks to our partners, WeatherTech Canada and Group Bellemare, we have advanced equipment, which provided us with the means to optimize the new car in such a short time,” explains Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. Logisticly and mechanicly, everything is in place to achieve the team’s first goal: “We want to win,” adds the Quebecer.
On Thursday (May 16th), Louis-Philippe Dumoulin will join Tyler Case (crew chief) and the WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team in Ontario to refine the final adjustments for the weekend.
“There are new team members. Several meetings have taken place since the beginning of the year to improve the pit stop logistics. The chemistry is present within members of the team, which creates a positive dynamic aimed at improving our collaboration.”
The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) circuit is synonymous with success for Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and he knows how much the pit stops strategy is essential:
“The CTMP is a very, very fast track, we must take advantage of momentum because everything happens at high speed. This is the kind of track that I really enjoy: it’s a show for the fans and a challenge for the drivers,” he says with enthusiasm.
Dumoulin brothers will both participate to the Victoria Day Speedfest Weekend (May 18-19), Jean-François taking his seat as a professional driving instructor for the SpeedMerchants team (Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Series).
