Louis-Philippe Dumoulin wins NCATS opener at CTMP

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series kicked off its 2013 season on Sunday afternoon at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The Pinty’s Presents Vortex 200 was won by Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, driving the #47 WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare Dodge.

It was Dumoulin’s first career NCATS victory. He finished the 51 lap chase .651 of a second in front of Jeff Lapcevich in the #76 Tim Hortons Dodge. Jason Hathaway (#3 Snap On Tools / Rockstar Dodge finished third in the race around the 10-turn road course, located north of Bowmanville, ON.

Reigning series champ DJ Kennington finshed fourth. Polesitter J.R. Fitzpatrick experienced a broken driveshaft and was scored 27th. Two-time NCATS champ Scott Steckly was 24th.
