PORT COLBORNE, Ont. (August 11, 2019) – Liam Martin started outside the front row for round eight of the Action Sprint Tour powered by RaceRivalz.com and led all 20 laps of the main event to score his second tour victory of the season.

July 14 Humberstone winner Steven Beckett and Martin started on the front row for the 20-lap A-Feature with Martin grabbing the lead early on. Fourth-starting and current series point leader Josh Hansen quickly moved into second and began his mission to track down race leader Martin.

The leaders hit lapped traffic on lap eight as Hansen started to close in on Martin. Fifth-starting Jacob Dykstra spun in turn three to bring out the race’s first caution on lap 10 after losing a right front tire. Dykstra was able to rejoin the field after solving the issuing during his time in the work area.

On the restart, Martin, Hansen, and Beckett pulled away from the rest of the field. A late restart with 19 complete gave Hansen one final shot to steal the win, but Martin held him off to score his second win of the season. Hansen and Beckett rounded out the podium. The second-place result was Hansen’s sixth in seven starts, allowing him to hold a 54-point advantage atop the standings entering the final two races of the season.

The Action Sprint Tour’s 2019 campaign continues next Saturday, August 18 when the tour reaches its most eastern point at Brighton Speedway. Race time is 7:00pm, with hot laps scheduled for 6:00pm. Additional event information can be found at www.BrightonSpeedway.ca. The tour will then crown its 2019 champion during the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway on September 14.
