COOKSTOWN, ON- Fresh off of a head-turning pair of outings at Sunset Speedway last weekend, Ledson Motorsports representative Nick Ledson will enter this Saturday’s season finale for the Ontario Legends Series as the point leader in the race for the 2015 series championship. Incredibly, Ledson will lead longtime Legends standout Kevin Foisy by a single marker when teams unload at Peterborough Speedway.
Ledson trailed Foisy for much of 2015’s second half, however a pair of clutch podium finishes – a runner-up and a victory – in last weekend’s doubleshot event at Sunset Speedway has propelled Ledson into the championship lead.
“Last weekend was huge for us,” smiles Nick. “In a lot of ways, our season was on the line, because if we didn’t put up two big finishes our hopes at a championship would have been over. It would have been tough to script it any better. Weekends like that are how championships are won and lost. I still can’t believe we were able to dig down deep and make it happen. Those are two days I’ll be remembering for a while”
With a third straight Ontario Legends Series championship now within his reach, Nick is quick to brush off any allegations that he might feel any added tension in the days leading up to the season finale for the cross-province series.
“I’m not feeling any pressure heading into Peterborough,” shrugs the reigning champion. “Last weekend I felt pressure because I wanted to give my team a fair shot at a championship. Now that we have that opportunity, it’s all about unloading these cars, doing our thing and hoping that it’s enough”
“We’re really strong at Peterborough, but so is Kevin [Foisy]. In a lot of ways, we kinda equalize one another. It’s going to be all about who can find their rhythm first”
The Cookstown, ON product has teased all season long that 2015 could be his last in a Legends car. Now, entering Peterborough, Ledson has all but confirmed he will be moving to a new challenge in 2016.
“This weekend will be my last as a fulltime competitor in a Legends car – and I couldn’t possibly pick a better way to go out,” says Nick. “Kevin’s one of the best in the world in these cars, and it’s going to be an honour to scrap it out with him for a championship one last time. May the best man win”
In addition to Nick’s 2015 championship aspirations, Ledson Motorsports will also be represented by younger brother Cole, who will enter Peterborough in search of his first career win after another podium finish at Sunset Speedway last Sunday.
“This has been the best season of my career and I just want to end it strong,” offers the soft-spoken up-and-comer. “A podium finish at Peterborough would be awesome – and if I could finally get my first win it would be a dream come true. I have an immense amount of respect for these guys, so beating them would mean everything to me.”
Ledson Motorsports is proud to represent Cavalier Transportation Services, Ledson Wines, Cooksville Tire, Edgehill Insurance, RF Pathways, Peterbilt Region of London/Ayr, Shaw Tracking, TBM Legal Services and Trailcon Leasing.
