@AlexLabbe32 • @AlainLordM • @PintysFoods • #NASCAR • MONTREAL, QC – Go-Fas Racing Principal Alain Mounir announced on Monday that St-Albert (QC) driver Alex Labbé will run the full 2017 season in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, with the support of Can-Am, Kappa and Cyclops Gear. Mounir added that Go-Fas Racing will also support Labbé in five Xfinity races, starting at Phoenix (AZ) this coming weekend, and on to next season.
Les Equipements Larue, a long time supporter of Labbé in ACT racing in Canada and the USA, will team up with the other partners in support of Alex for the Xfinity race at Phoenix.
Alex Labbé was all smiles at the announcement. He commented that “This is a great day for me. In addition to the extraordinary support in the Xfinity Series, I will get to settle my score with the Pinty’s Series, where we were always quick but mostly unlucky last year (2016). We know all the tracks and the other drivers, and are aiming for nothing less than victories and the championship!”
Tackling the NASCAR Xfinity series is a major challenge for Alex, but he feels he is up to the task: He added that “The Xfinity cars are quicker, and the races longer and more tactical than what I am used to. I love longer races so I am looking forward to these events. We will run only on shorter ovals to start with, where my racing roots are, to ensure that I gain enough experience to qualify for a full Xfinity licence for 2018.’’
Alex will race the King Autosport Chevrolet No. 90, a regular participant in the series, with the experienced Mario Gosselin as Crew Chief. Alex was in fact at the team base in Florida last week to help in the preparation of the car. As Alex told us, “I have known and been working with Mario for more than ten years. We communicate very well on and off the track and that will help me during practice and the long races. I have been practicing on the Phoenix layout on a simulator, to shorten my learning time on the track. I am ready for this and can’t wait to get on with it.”
The Ticket Galaxy 200 will start at 7 pm this coming Saturday, November 16, and will be telecast live on TSN and RDS.
