@Garyklutt • @NASCARHomeTrack • #NPS • #NASCARPintysSeries • @KDSpeedway • Fraserville, ON (September 19, 2016)- A rain delay postponed the Kawartha 250 until Sunday, but it wasn’t enough to throw Gary Klutt and the PioneerFamilyPools.ca team off their game as Klutt captured his eighth top 10 finish, helping him secure his spot in eighth overall for the season.
NASCAR made the announcement that the heavy rain would delay the much anticipated Kawartha 250 until the following day at 1pm.
Klutt and his team were well prepared on Sunday, knowing they had a good car to start the race that was proven with a third place qualifying effort.
“The car was good for the first 50 laps, we just logged laps in second place keeping the leader close,” said Klutt.
“As the race progressed and the track changed, we just couldn’t stay ahead of the adjustments and with only three yellows, we just never found the sweet spot and really struggled.”
The Smilin’ Assassin was optimistic in saying, “this wasn’t the result we were looking for to finish off the season, but it gives us the drive to sit down and work hard in the off season to rethink our approach, our equipment, and our program.”
Klutt walks away from the 2016 NASCAR Pinty’s Series with 407 total points, 8 top 10 finishes, and eighth place overall after competing in all 12 races.
