STAYNER, ON- Super Late Model standout Brandon Watson will return to ARCA/CRA Super Series competition this Sunday, September 14th at Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, OH. The Buckminn’s D&D Harley Davidson/Oakley Blacktop 125 will serve as Round 12 of the 2014 season for the Midwestern-based tour, and Watson will enter in search of his third top-10 finish of the year.
“I love heading to speedways I’ve never been to before, so I’m really looking forward to this weekend”, explains Watson as he puts the finishing touches on his family-owned ride.
“This season has been all about learning for our team, and this is just another chance for us to pad our notebook and figure out a little bit more about this car”
The third-generation star is hoping to rebound from a frustrating outing at Winchester Speedway on September 1st, when contact on the opening lap left Watson with race-ending damage.
“We lost a rear-end on the first lap at Winchester, when someone got into us coming to the green”, says the soft-spoken 21-year old. “Getting knocked out of the race was a tough pill to swallow. We had a good car and I really think we had enough to contend for a solid finish”
“Kil-Kare is a great opportunity to bounce back”, continues Watson, “this is the style of track that I grew up racing on. It’s tough to pass, which means qualifying is going to be paramount. If we can knock down a good lap in time trials, I know that we can settle into a groove and save our equipment until the end”
Watson has handled the ups-and-downs of his first full season with the ARCA/CRA Super Series with a veteran’s grace, and insists that it’s all part of learning.
“We had an awesome season with the OSCAAR tour in 2013, but racing with the CRA regulars is a completely different ballgame”, offers the fan favourite. “There have been frustrating nights, but I’m proud that my team hasn’t let it get to us”
“As long as we’re learning every week, that’s all that’s important. I hope I can come out on Sunday and bring my guys home with a finish that they deserve”
