KINCARDINE, ON- Fresh off of a Mini Stock career that saw him amass a number of Sauble Speedway feature victories, veteran Kevin Bridge will embark on a new journey in 2015. On June 6th, Bridge will begin his freshman season in the perennially competitive Thunder Car division.
With a successful shakedown session during Sauble’s non-points event on May 16th under his belt, Bridge is confident his family-run effort is ready to start the learning process.
“I can’t wait to start the regular season at Sauble, we’ve worked all off-season on this car,” says Bridge. “We had thought about maybe running a partial schedule this season – just to get a feel for the car. But, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the only way we’re going to improve is by getting seat time and logging laps on track”
“I’ve been a fan of the Thunder Car division for as long as I’ve been going to the speedway,” continues Bridge. “Guys like Joe Adams and Todd Davenport have been at the top of their game for as long as I can remember. They didn’t get there by accident. They worked at it until they were at the head of the division. That’s exactly what we hope to do”
Bridge acquired his ride over the off-season from former Barrie Speedway champion Jim Beleskey. After months spent making adjustments, Bridge marvels at just how much the car has changed.
“You’d hardly recognize it from the day we brought it home. It started with wanting to just make a couple of minor alterations and turned into a pretty major project. Jim [Beleskey] had a gorgeous ride before – we just managed to put our own spin on things”
“This is, without question, the nicest race car I’ve ever owned,” smiles Bridge. “Once we can get the driver up to speed with the equipment, I think we’re going to have an absolute hot rod”
“Our entire team is looking forward to this challenge. It’s not going to be easy – but it’s definitely going to be a lot of fun.”
