KINCARDINE, ON- After a brief hiatus from Thunder Car competition, Sauble Speedway Rookie of the Year contender Kevin Bridge will be back behind the wheel of his family-owned No. 17 in weekly competition this evening.
“We’ve been working our guts out to make this car better,” says Bridge. “It’s been a humbling experience. I’ll admit that all day long. This division is incredibly tough. But, we’re not going to stop until we can run with the best of them”
“We’re committed to this program, whether it takes the rest of the season or not. We’ll chase this car for as long as have to. Because, we know, the payoff will be worth it”
After working through a mechanical DNF in his most recent Thunder Car appearance, Bridge is eager to return to action in the perennially competitive division.
“Right now, we’re just coming off of a couple of funny mechanical problems that are virtually impossible to prepare for,” shrugs the personable freshman. “Everyone in this sport is going to go through a run of bad luck. We’ve been around long enough to know that. We’re ready to bounce back, dust ourselves off and try again”
Bridge goes on to explain that the team’s goal from the onset of 2015 has been to acquire the knowledge and experience necessary to one day compete amongst the elite in the division.
“This season was never going to be about padding our trophy case,” laughs the former Mini Stock standout. “We’re here to learn and we’ve been doing plenty of that. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be at the front to get a lesson, here. We’ve had some good nights and some bad nights, and we’ve learned a ton from both”
“Unfortunately, some of those lessons have been expensive, so I can’t thank our marketing partners enough. We’ve got the best group of sponsors I could have ever asked for, and they’re behind us 100%. It’s going to take a lot of work, but I’m excited to put them in victory lane someday soon.”
