HAGERSVILLE, ON (September 29, 2019)- DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team have been the model of consistency once again during the 2019 NASCAR Pinty’s Series that concluded with the final event this past Saturday at Jukasa Motor Speedway near Hamilton, Ontario. The only driver to race each event in series history, Kennington made his 160th consecutive start and with an eighth-place finish also picked up his 136th top-ten result.
Kennington demonstrated the speed of the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge during the afternoon practice session posting the fifth quickest lap time. When rain showers washed out qualifying, by rule teams lined up for the 200-lap feature event by practice times which put Kennington fifth on the grid.
“Another great job by the Castrol team to have the car quick off the truck again this week” said Kennington.
It was hard charging action throughout the field and Kennington kept the #17 Castrol Edge Doge near the top five through the early stages.
“Things usually get pretty feisty in the final event of the season” stated Kennington. “I just wanted to stay in touch with the front runners” he added.
By the end of the first half of the 200-lap race the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge was tight through the corners and Kennington struggled somewhat to maintain the pace.
“This is something we’ve dealt with for much of the season” said the driver.
During the mandated break for service the #17 Castrol Edge Doge team fueled the car, installed four fresh tires and made adjustments hoping to correct the issue. Sadly, the car wouldn’t improve much but Kennington pushed hard to the finish and claimed his eighth-place result.
“It’s great that the Castrol Edge Dodge was so consistent all year and we’ve learned some things that will give us that little bit extra going forward” stated Kennington. “Knowing we’re in the fight every weekend is a great motivator, makes us even hungrier. We finished on the podium a few times this year but we’re ready to get that next win for Castrol. It’ll be a busy off season, but we’re excited about what’s ahead”.
DJ Kennington and the Castrol Edge Dodge team wish to thank their many fans for the tremendous support they enjoyed all season. They’ll be working hard to be even better in 2020.
