TORONTO, ON (July 13, 2019)- DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team had their hands full during round this past Saturday during number four of the 2019 NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Exhibition Place in Toronto.
In typical fashion the Pinty’s series Ironman fought his way to another strong result with a ninth-place finish.
During practice Kennington was only able to manage the 15thbest time. Hustling the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge during qualifying he managed the 12th fastest time.
“It’s no secret I’m not a road racer” explained Kennington. “Some of these guys are so good, you miss by just a little and it’s a huge difference” he added.
Thunderstorms delayed the start of the race but once the green flag waved the action was frenetic. Kennington urged the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge forward and would climb into the top ten. Maintaining that standing would prove to be a challenge.
“It got pretty aggressive out there” said Kennington. “We’ve got concrete all around us, it doesn’t make sense to me for guys to be pushing as shoving as much as they are, it’s too easy to really tear the cars up” he stated.
Doing his best to stay out of potential trouble Kennington brought the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge across the finish line with a ninth-place result.
“Not our best day by any stretch but a top ten on the road isn’t terrible. We’re looking forward to getting out west to a couple of tracks where we’ve had success before.
DJ Kennington and the Castrol Edge Dodge team get back in action during the series annual western swing with a doubleheader event at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, SK on Wednesday July 24th.
