VALLEE JONCTION, QC (June 30, 2018)- DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team returned to action in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series at the challenging Autodrome Chaudière in Vallee Jonction, Quebec this past Saturday night. Kennington posted another solid result in what turned out to be a rain-shortened race.
During practice under threatening skies Kennington was fifth quickest but would qualify the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge in seventh.
“The driver made a little mistake in qualifying” Kennington said afterwards.
Showers passed through the area delaying the start of the scheduled 300-lap event but as soon as racing began Kennington was on the move and pushed the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge up to second in the field. Prior to the mandated competition caution he fell back a couple of spots but learned from the experience.
“I pushed the car a little too hard in the first part of the race” explained Kennington afterwards.
Following a pit stop for fresh tires and fuel he was again hunting the competition in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge. Unfortunately for Kennington rain returned to the area forcing the race to be shortened by 80 laps.
“I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get to finish,” said Kennington afterwards. “We were on the move and I had plenty left for the final laps,” he added.
Still Kennington was able to claim his second top-five finish of the 2018 season and will take the knowledge gained at this event.
“Another solid finish for the Castrol Edge Dodge tonight, we’ve got something we can work with at the other ovals coming up too. It was a good night for the whole team,” he stated.
The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team returns to the streets of Exhibition Place for the Pinty’s Grand Prix of Toronto July 14th. You can watch the race from the Autodrome Chaudière Sunday July 8that 1PM Eastern on TSN2.
