@14_Temple @Sunset_Speedway • CAISTOR CENTRE, ON- After completing his first full season of competition in over a decade, Sunset Speedway Super Stock regular Keith Temple is wasting little time preparing for a follow up campaign in one of Ontario’s strongest weekly divisions.
Temple’s return to action in 2015 was not without its hardships, but after overcoming a rough opening month, the Caistor Centre, ON driver showed continuous improvements over the course of the summer.
“Our 2016 season started the morning after we got home from the Sunset finale,” says Temple.
“It’s tough to explain just how motivating it feels to get a head start on things. Last summer our program felt a lot more rushed than we would have liked, and now it’s our job to make sure that doesn’t happen again”
Temple’s family-run effort is very much a grassroots project. And though he willingly admits his team will never outspend the competition, it’s impossible to doubt the dedication of his tight-knit team, comprised solely of family and close friends.
“Building this program from the ground up was tough, but by the end of the season it all felt incredibly gratifying,” says Temple. “It’s been a labour of love, without question. But I’ve never felt more confident in what our team is capable of”
“It’d be silly for us to say that our season played out exactly the way we had planned,” continues the affable veteran.
“There were some stumbles – especially early in the year – and we made our fair share of mistakes. But, at the end of the day, all of that had to happen for us to get where we are right now,” admits Temple. “I learned a lesson in every one of our starts last season. And every Saturday we spent at the track is going to help shape the direction we’re headed in for 2016”
Temple makes sure to credit the drivers on the Sunset roster, and insists that his team will continue working in order to join the division’s upper echelon.
“The Sunset Super Stock division is healthier now than its ever been,” opines Temple. “There aren’t many weekly divisions in the province that are as difficult to carve out a win in than this one”
“We haven’t even come close to maximizing the potential that this team is capable of, but I know that if we keep working at it the way we have been, that we absolutely have a program that can give the rest of these guys something to worry about.”
Keith Temple’s 2015 season was made possible thanks to the continued support of Burton Exteriors, Homeland Auto Service and Howard Race Engines.
Fans can stay up to date with Keith and the rest of the team over the offseason by visiting the official Temple Motorsports page on Facebook.
