COLDWATER, ON- Third-generation driver Jordan Latimer opened up his 2014 Barrie Speedway season with a 7th place finish, marking his career-best in a Thunder Car.
“This team was fantastic all afternoon”, beamed Latimer post-race. “I can’t thank my spotter Jeff Cuculick enough, we hit some dicey spots tonight, but he helped me through ’em unscathed. I couldn’t be happier with our debut”
The team fought brake issues all afternoon long, but resolved their problems shortly before the evening’s feature event.
“I think we might’ve had to work a little harder than we would’ve liked to for opening night”, offered the 15-year old. “But, this team never gave up. Nobody panicked. It was awesome. I couldn’t ask for a more prepared and professional team to work with. Chris Lee handled our brake issues like an absolute champ”
Latimer ran well within the top-5 for most of the evening, until a late race restart cost the Karting standout valuable track position.
“I wouldn’t mind having that last restart back”, admitted Latimer. “We didn’t really have anywhere to go. It’s not hard to get hung out to dry on the outside here. But, I’d like to think I’ll handle it better next time”
“Our whole team learned alot tonight”, continued the Rookie of the Year contender. “It’s only going to get better from here. I already feel as though I’ve been working with Gordie [Shepherd], Jeff [Cuculick] and the rest of the squad for years. It’s going to be a great season!”
Latimer and the Ridge Road Racing team will be back in action at Barrie Speedway on May 17th.
