Stroud, ON (June 24, 2017)- The challenge of running three features on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway didn’t throw JL Motorsports off their game, as they were able to walk away with three top-10 finishes.
Following last week’s feature, Jordan Latimer started the first 35-lap affair from the 13th position. He began to make his way up from the green flag, escaping a first lap incident and making up ground to run eighth as of Lap 12. He’d avoid a spinning car on Lap 15 to move up another spot to seventh.
He would then move up another spot to sixth with 16 laps to go after a car ahead of him blew their motor, followed by moving up to fifth with a pass on the restart. The fourth caution then flew with 11 laps to go for one of the leaders having a flat tire, allowing Latimer to move up once again to fourth.
He would get a good restart, moving up to the third spot. He kept putting together solid lap times through the back end of the feature, ultimately crossing the finish line in fourth.
With last week’s feature made-up, he would lay down a lap of 15.279 seconds to qualify 10th for the second feature. Through the first half of the feature, he wouldn’t make up much ground, running 10th as of the first caution at Lap 23.
He was then able to avoid a spin ahead of him on the restart, moving up two spots to eighth. He got a good restart, moving up to seventh. However, he would be passed with four laps to go by Danny Benedict, resulting in Latimer crossing the finish line in eighth.
With the re-draw in-place for the final feature, Latimer would start seventh for the final feature on the night. He’d begin to move up quickly, getting alongside Billy Zardo for sixth at Lap 7, and passing him a lap later. He would then get alongside Benedict for fifth at Lap 9, completing the pass two laps later.
The steady climb continued, as he’d get alongside Taylor Holdaway for fourth at Lap 16, and complete the pass a lap later. He would then break into the top-three on Lap 26, with a pass on Chris Morrow. Through the final laps, he ran solidly in third, till he was passed by Gord Shepherd coming to the line, resulting in a fourth-place finish.
With three solid finishes on Saturday night, Jordan Latimer has now posted six top-10’s to date, including three top-fives. He will hope to continue the solid performances on July 1.
