Stroud, ON (June 6, 2017)- Jordan Latimer kept the solid start to his 2017 season rolling as he posted his fourth top-10 of the season on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
After posting a lap of 15.042 seconds, he’d start eighth for the first 35-lap feature on the night. He’d slip back to 10th in the first half of the event, followed by slipping another spot back to 11th by the fourth caution at Lap 21. After the restart, though, he began to make up some ground, running side-by-side with Billy Zardo for ninth. They’d run side-by-side till the fifth caution flew with 14 laps to go.
Restarting 10th, he’d gain one spot to ninth by the seventh caution with seven laps to go, getting alongside Thayne Hallyburton for eighth with three laps to go. He was able to complete the pass coming to the line, finishing eighth for his fourth top-10 of 2017.
With the re-draw in place for the second feature, he’d start from the fourth position. The feature didn’t start off as well as planned, with Latimer slipping back to sixth prior to the first caution at Lap 9. The leader would then jump the next two restarts, causing him to be sent to the back and bump Latimer up to fifth for the restart.
Restarting inside the top-five, he’d battle side-by-side with Taylor Holdaway for fifth, slipping back to seventh by the next caution at Lap 18 for an incident in turn two. Following the restart, he’d slip back some more positions, falling back to ninth. He was then involved in an incident coming to the checkered flag, resulting in a 16th-place finish.
With four top-10’s so far, he currently sits seventh in the standings, just 19 points out of the top-five.
He knows his team can get the job done if given the chance, and will try and make it happen in the next NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model event on Saturday, June 17.
