COLDWATER, ON- Barrie Speedway rookie Jordan Latimer survived a late-race caution to earn a top-10 finish in an up and down outing in Thunder Car competition on July 12th.
After winning a qualifying heat race, the freshman appeared fast early on the feature event, but found himself mired in traffic.
“This was one of the best cars we’ve had all season, my guys gave me an awesome piece tonight”, remarked the oft-upbeat Latimer post-race.
“We were good right from the drop of the green, but couldn’t get the track position we needed”, continued the Karting graduate. “I got hung up on the outside early, and anytime we tried to make a run back to the front we found ourself in traffic”
Latimer would work his way back to the top-10 after a late-race caution, as he navigated his A/C Electric No. 10 through a Green-White-Checkered finish.
“It was frustrating not being able to showcase just how good of a car we had tonight, but I wasn’t going to push the issue and risk tearing up our equipment”, explained Latimer.
“I’ve learned a lot about patience this season, and I needed a tonne of it tonight. This Ridge Road Racing team works way too hard on this car to have it come home in pieces”
Despite his frustration, Latimer made sure to offer a positive outlook on the second half of the 2014 season.
“We’ve got this car working as well as it has all season. This car is so much better than we were able to show tonight. RIM Mechanical Service has helped us out a tonne in getting this car where we need it to be”
“I’m very much looking forward to getting back out next weekend and putting this car back at the front. We had a top-3 car tonight, but didn’t get the lucky breaks. If we’re half as good next Saturday, I know we’ll be able to put this car in contention”
