STROUD, ON (September 18, 2017)- After going through an up-and-down season, from his first career feature victory to some frustrating nights, Jordan Latimer finished up on a high note with a pair of top-fives.
Latimer began the night well, qualifying fifth for the first 35-lap feature, and running sixth until the race’s lone caution flew on Lap 31. He’d battle hard on the restart, gaining a spot to cross the finish line in sixth.
The positive momentum carried into the second feature as he started third, battling with Travis Hallyburton for second in the early stages. He would come out on top, clearing Hallyburton on Lap 7. From there, he was able to close the gap between him and Maltese, riding the back bumper as he looked for a way by. He would make his move for the lead on Lap 24, taking the top spot a lap later.
His advantage did not last for long, though, as division champion Gord Shepherd passed him for the top spot with five laps to go. He continued to put up solid laps, though, and crossed the finish line in second.
Despite some frustrating moments, JL Motorsports leaves the 2017 campaign behind them full of smiles, following 17 top-10’s throughout the year and a top-10 points finish. Their official ranking in the standings will be confirmed by the track in the coming days.
