PRESCOTT, ON (May 3, 2022)- His career stats tell the tale. Prescott, Ontario’s Johnathon Ferguson is one of the most talented young racers in the sport.
The 25-year-old, third generation runner – who works as a Water Well Technician for the family business, Splash Well Drilling – scored his first DIRTcar Sportsman-Modified win during the 2012 season at Brockville Ontario Speedway in only his 11th career start. Since then, the checkered flags – including four Ogilvie’s Triple Crown wins, a pair of Northeast Fall Nationals victories, three-time Cornwall Motor Speedway Race for the Cure Series Champion and three DIRTcar Sportsman Series triumphs to name only a few – have kept on flying. With the 2022 schedule just weeks away, Johnathon Ferguson is getting ready for a stellar season of Small Block Modified racing.
“We’ll be going racing soon and I can’t wait for the year’s first green flag,” Johnathon Ferguson said. “Our team has been working throughout the off-season to get things ready. Finishing sixth in the point standings at Brockville and tenth at Cornwall, while being named rookie of the year in 2021 were great motivators. I haven’t set any long-term goals that we’ve carved in stone. It would be cool to maybe pick-up a feature win and finish a couple of spots higher in the running order. Most of all, I want to keep having fun wherever I race.”
This will be the second full season where Johnathon Ferguson’s No. 44 weekly racing program will be focused solely on the Small Block Modified ride. Even with the tough competition he’s sure to face during the season, the young racer is confident in the equipment his crew will be bringing to the track at every event.
“We’ve been in the shop and working on the car nearly every night since the end of the 2021 season,” said the South Grenville District High School graduate. “The expertise, commitment and dedication people like Corey Jalbert, Rick Albers, Ralph Murphy, Hannah Albers, Chelsea Jalbert and my parents bring to this program give me a great feeling. My grandparents Muriel and Carl Ferguson and Laurie and Dean Montory have always been huge supporters of my racing program over the years. This isn’t just another race car. Win or lose, it is a total team effort.”
Johnathon Ferguson’s 2022 local racing season is powered by Splash Well Drilling, King Edward Auto Parts, DIG Race Products, Dirt Outlaw Apparel, Steve Polite Sand & Gravel, Mulder’s Welding, Drummond’s Gas and Benmar Farms.
