Montréal (Québec), July 31, 2012.- The Media Racing Team will take to the track this weekend for the Canadian Touring Car Championship’s rounds in the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, with its drivers Jocelyn Fecteau in Touring class and Luc Lesage in Super Touring. For Lesage, a resident of Trois-Rivières, competing at his home event is even more motivation for a team that is already well prepared for this highly popoular event.
The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières follows the Mont-Tremblant and Mosport rounds that have already been held earlier this summer. These two double-headers brought highs and lows for the Media Racing Team, as Jocelyn Fecteau mentions : « we had a few mechanical problems at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant in early July, which resulted in me slipping out of second place in the championship. While at Mosport (Ontario) two weeks later for the American Le Mans weekend, we weren’t allotted much time on the track and because of this, we didn’t have enough time to sort out all of the settings before race time. I qualified seventh anyway and finished in sixth. The following day, despite making contact with a Super Touring car, I finished seventh » concludes Jocelyn Fecteau.
For Luc Lesage, there was a lot of drama at the two July rounds : « in Tremblant, we were really down on power and instead of reliving the same thing that happened at Mosport, we made the decision to rent a car so I could at least score some points. I have to say it was a weekend that reminded me, as I was battling for victory, why I love this sport so much. I had so much fun! » declares Luc Lesage.
Qualifying in second, he finished the first race in fourth spot after climbing back from as far as eighteenth place when another competitor’s engine oil leak on the track cause him to slide. In the second race, the driver from Trois-Rivières crossed the finish line in sixth.
This weekend in front of his supporters will be the most important event of the season for Luc Lesage : « it’s always great to compete at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. I expect to be confronted with two highly competitive races. We’ll have all the drivers that are doing the whole season but we’ll also have those that come here specifically for this event » explains Luc Lesage, who adds : « we have to be realistic. We’re still waiting for the new engine to arrive from the US and we’re not sure that we’ll have enough time to install it into the #22 car. So, I’d say that a “Top 10” finish is our goal, which could allow me to gain one or two spots in the championship ».
For this event, Luc Lesage will once again find himself in his Super Touring Scion tC. He currently occupies tenth place in this category in the series. As for Jocelyn Fecteau, he is fourth in the Touring class drivers’ championship and could move up to third spot with a good finish this weekend in his #77 Scion.
The Media Racing Team is contesting the Canadian Touring Car Championship in two categories, with Luc Lesage in Super Touring and Jocelyn Fecteau in Touring class.
