Trois-Rivières, QC – The new business offerings from Dumoulin Competition for 2019 herald a very busy and exciting season for Jean-Francois Dumoulin, the man at the centre of this exciting new season. Thrilled about getting back behind the wheel at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park road course (Bowanville, Ontario), the Spectra Premium ambassador is aiming for at least a podium finish at the opening of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series 2019 season.
In addition to running Jean-François Dumoulin and the team #04 Spectra Premium | Groupe Bellemare | Trois-Rivières Mitsubishi | MIA | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat, Dumoulin Competition team will also be running Jean-Frédéric Laberge in car #91, adding to Jean-François Dumoulin’s workload as General Manager of the Dumoulin Competition organization.
“We are really looking forward to the start of the season,” says Jean-François Dumoulin. “We finished on the podium at CTMP last year and with the improvements made to the car over the winter and the successful testing earlier this month, we are confident we will go up a significant notch in performance this year. When pit stops play a role in the race strategy, it’s always more fun for the whole team #04 Spectra Premium | Groupe Bellemare | Trois-Rivières Mitsubishi | MIA | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat, even more so as we will run a new tire this year. This change alone will certainly affect some aspects of the race strategy.
“50 Years at the Wheel,” a commitment to help the next generation, and new responsibilities for Dumoulin Competition
A May 4th ceremony paid tribute to the Dumoulin family for their 50 years of passion and hard racing, dating back to 1969 with the first laps by Patriarch Richard Dumoulin. During the celebrations, Dumoulin Competition announced its new initiative directed towards the next generation in motor sport: the “Dumoulin Competition Partners in Driver Development” trophy in the Mini Sportsman Quebec series. Dumoulin Competition also announced a new talent development program in partnership with Festidrag Development principals Karine Albert and Martin D’Anjou.
Dumoulin Competition will prepare the cars for two new Pinty’s drivers this year: Jean-Frédéric Laberge (For the four road course events) and Raphael Lessard (For the oval track race at Autodrome Chaudiere). “We made some important changes to the cars over the winter and we are readier and more confident than ever. In our early years, we had to buy cars from different suppliers and the parts were not interchangeable and had to be modified being used in the different cars. Today, with our own in-house chassis, our parts fit any car, making the car ergonomics fit any driver more easily and simplifying set-up and suspension changes according to the driver’s style and pace,’’ added Robin McCluskey, Crew Chief and car builder.
“We have confidence in the Dumoulin Competition crews for the preparation and trackside work over the race weekends. We are determined to succeed in this new business offering,” said Jean-François Dumoulin.
