QUEENSVILLE, ON- After a well-earned two weeks off from competition, Sunset Speedway championship contender Jason Witty is eager for a return to Ltd. Late Model racing this Saturday, August 30th.
The second-generation star will enter the event 2nd in points, with just 6 markers separating himself from the top of the standings and his first career Late Model championship.
“I can’t wait to get back out there”, says Witty, flashing his trademark grin. “The intensity level is always up a few notches at the end of the season. Everyone’s hungry. Everyone’s on their A-Game and it just makes each race feel that much more important”
‘Bam Bam’ has earned back-to-back top-5s in his last two starts, highlighted by a victory – his 3rd of the season – on August 3rd.
“We’ve had a great season so far. It hasn’t been without its ups-and-downs, but this team has been fantastic”, explains Witty. “With the level of competition that’s out here every week, if you want to succeed you have to have the right people behind you. I have the best team a guy could ask for, and I’d love nothing more than to bring them home a championship”
With only two points-paying events left on the Sunset Speedway schedule, Witty is quick to point out just how much will be riding on each race.
“This is what you work for all off-season”, states the veteran matter-of-factly. “In my opinion, this roster is the best-of-the-best. There are guys we’re racing that have won big races and championships at tracks across the province. To beat them, you have to be on your game every single night. We can’t take a lap off”
“Dwayne Baker and Chris Morrow are two guys I’ve looked up to for a long time, and it’s a blast to race with them. We’re going to come out with our absolute best in the last two races, and see if we can’t beat them for a track championship”
Details for August 30th’s event, including gate times and ticket prices, can be found at www.SunsetSpeedway.ca.
Jason Witty’s 2014 season is powered by Larue’s Haulage, Carrot Express, Speedy Auto Machine, Queensville Sod and Matco Tools.
