BOWMANVILLE, ON (August 25, 2019)- Sun Peaks, BC racer Jason White returned to racing this past Sunday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) near Bowmanville, Ontario during the annual visit for the Gander Outdoors Truck Series. Piloting the #34 Powder Ventures Excavating / YourGMCTruckStore.com Chevrolet from Reaume Brothers Racing, White as always gave everything he had to collect a 20th place finish.
Competing in the Truck Series for the first time since he just missed out in qualifying for the season opener at Daytona International Speedway in the #34 Powder Ventures Excavating / YourGMCTruckStore.com Chevrolet, White was intent on showing his skills. That was difficult during the opening practice session on Saturday as the team chased gremlins in the car.
“We were having a fuel pick up problem and the first session was pretty much a write off” said White. “During the second practice though we got faster every time I went out and things were coming together” he added.
Qualifying took place Sunday morning and White managed to claim the 19thbest time in the #34 Powder Ventures Excavating / YourGMCTruckStore.com Chevrolet. “I thought we might get a little higher starting spot, but the plan all along was be patient and let the race come to us. We expect some attrition” said the driver.
Under warm, sunny skies the green flag waved on the Chevrolet Silverado 250 and White looked to move forward in the #34 Powder Ventures Excavating / YourGMCTruckStore.com Chevrolet. Hoping for improvement every lap White and the team once again had fuel pick up issues surface.
“It was the same kind of issue we had during practice and it forced us to pit every 14 laps or so. That’s about twice as often as everyone else” explained White.
Despite the setback, White hustled the #34 Powder Ventures Excavating / YourGMCTruckStore.com Chevrolet and used all his skills and pushed hard all afternoon and claimed a 20th place finish.
“It’s not the result we wanted, but if we could have licked that fuel pick up issue, we were right in the thick of things” said White. “During the race we had speed to race for position but with the extra stops kept giving it back”.
“Huge thanks though to Rob Zimmer and the Zimmer Wheaton Group and YourGMCTruckStore.Com and to Reaume Brothers Racing. I’m not sure when we’ll be back next, we’re working on some things thought and we’ll get back out there” stated White.
