SAUBLE BEACH, ON- Sauble Speedway point leader Jason Parker utilized a late-race pass of Sunset regular Jason Witty to earn his 4th victory of the 2014 season on July 12th.
The Port Elgin, ON veteran sat at the top of the speed charts for the bulk of the afternoon, entering the 50-lap event as an early favourite.
“This team continues to outdo themselves with the cars they give me every week”, smiled Parker upon clearing post-race technical inspection.
“We were fast right off the trailer tonight. When we hit the track for first practice, I could feel that we would have a shot at the win”
Parker ran in the second spot for much of the race, trailing early-leader Witty, before seizing an opportunity moments before the race was cut short due to rain.
“Witty ran an awesome race. He was fast early, and it was all we could do just to hang with him”, explained Parker.
“Once we hit halfway, our car started to come alive, and we were able to get to his back bumper. This is one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Long runs or short runs, it seems to work regardless”.
Parker relished earning Sauble the victory in the ‘Home and Home Series’, and explained what the victory meant to his JP Motorsports squad post-race.
“Winning this race was one of our goals coming into this season. We had a bad starting spot in this event last year, and finished fourth. We wanted the chance to showcase what this team is capable of”.
“We love hauling down to Sunset to race against their guys, but we don’t have the laps around there that their regulars do. Having them come to Sauble, and give us a hometrack advantage for once, was fantastic. I hope this mini-series comes back next year”
“The New Age Punisher” will be back in competition at Sauble this Saturday, July 19th as he hopes to further distance himself from his closest pursuers in the hunt for the 2014 Ltd. Late Model division championship. Gate times and ticket prices for the event can be found at www.SaubleSpeedway.ca.
Parker’s McColl Racing Enterprises chassis is sponsored by Prestige General Contractors, Saugeen Shores Transmission, MacDonnell Fuels, BAXI / Marathon Industries, Keeprite, Candue Homes, Ron Gibbons Construction and Crabby Joe’s of Port Elgin/Hanover.
