PORT ELGIN, ON- Reigning Sauble Speedway Late Model champion Jason Parker has spent the entirety of his off-season preparing for the inaugural season of the APC United Late Model Series powered by Grisdale Racing Products. On Saturday, May 23rd, Parker will finally have his chance to line up alongside the top Pro Late Model races in Ontario.
“This weekend is everything we’ve worked for all winter,” smiles Parker. “I think I’ve read the driver’s roster about 100 times. When you look at the level of talent that’s coming out for Saturday’s race – it’s absolutely impossible to pick a winner”
“These races will be the type where a driver will tell you they’re happy to get a top-10 – and they’ll mean it,” adds Parker with a smile.
The event will qualify the top-18 from time trials, with the remaining hopefuls sent to a Last Chance Qualifier as a final way to start the 100-lap A Main.
“We’re pretty good in time trials, so I’m not too worried about racing our way into the show,” explains ‘The New Age Punisher’. “But if a driver does end up in the B Main, that’s when you have to just hold on and hope for the best. Because it will get crazy in a hurry”
Fresh off of a victory in Sauble Speedway weekly competition on May 16th, Parker explains his team is looking to keep their motivation rolling in May 23rd’s 100-lap event.
“We won last Saturday at Sauble and it felt as though the off-season never happened,” says the multi-time champion. “We feel just as confident as we did when we won our championship last summer. In my opinion, this is as good as this team has ever been”
“We’re on a roll right now, and we’re going to do everything in our power to keep that up. We won two extended-distance races at Sunset last season, so we have some notes to fall back on. Hopefully we can get a handle on what works and what doesn’t very early in the day, time trial our way into the show, and get to work on winning the first ever tour event.”
