SAUBLE BEACH, ON- Former Sauble Speedway champion Jason Parker continued his run through the Ltd. Late Model division on June 28th, earning his 3rd win of the 2014 campaign.
“This car seems like it gets better every week”, beamed Parker post-race. “I don’t think I’ve ever had a car that handles like this one. I give all the credit in the world to Mike [McColl] and the rest of the boys at [McColl Racing Enterprises] because they built incredible equipment”
‘The New Age Punisher’ started in the 8th position, and before lap-10 had made his way to the lead.
“Last Saturday we had a tougher time coming through the field”, admitted Parker. “It was hard on the tires and brakes, and I think that might’ve been the reason we didn’t have enough for the win at the end. So, tonight, I tried to be a little easier on the equipment.”
“It worked”, added the veteran with a smile.
The victory further widened Parker’s point lead over the rest of the division, as the Port Elgin, ON driver has yet to finish outside of the top-2 in 4 appearances at the ¼ mile oval.
“This really is feeling like a dream season”, remarked Parker upon clearing post-race technical inspection. “We started out the 2013 season on a high note, and trailed off a bit towards the end of the season. When we sat down as a team during the Winter, we made a promise to ourselves that we wouldn’t let that happen again”
“Every week I feel more proud of my team”, continued Parker. “None of this would be possible without my JP Motorsports guys. Kevin [Virtue] and Adam [Page] put up with a lot from me, but they always give me a car capable of winning. They work their hearts out to give us the program that we have, and I can only hope they realize how much I appreciate them”
As the team worked to load his Prestige Contracting No. 8, Parker closed by explaining how much his family’s support means to his program.
“To have my wife and kids at the speedway every Saturday, watching me, that’s the best feeling in the world”, his face breaking into a grin. “I feel like the luckiest man alive when I roll into victory lane to meet them. That makes all the hours in the shop worth it”
“My wife Leigh is what keeps all of this running. I could thank her every day and it wouldn’t be enough”
‘The New Age Punisher’ will return to action at Sauble this Saturday, July 5th. Gate times and ticket prices for the event can be found at www.SaubleSpeedway.ca
