OWEN SOUND, ON- Legger’s Raceshop founder Jason Legge has announced that he will partner with short track veteran Gary Elliott for the 2015 racing season.
The new venture will combine resources and equipment from both teams, and will allow the pair to field entries in a number of divisions at speedways across the province – with the main focus on Legge’s hometrack of Sauble and Elliott’s adopted hometrack of Full Throttle Motor Speedway in addition to a full schedule with the OSCAAR Modified Tour.
“This partnership is all about combining teams and resources,” says Legge. “Between the two of us, we’re now able to prepare cars for four different classes, at two speedways – in addition to a touring division”
“I’m not able to race nearly as much as I would like to due to family commitments, but I still wanted a way to support our local tracks and help keep them in business,” continues the personable veteran. “Gary – he’s a gamer, man – he would race every night of the week if he could. As soon as I pitched the idea of us combining our equipment, he was all over it”
For both competitors, the goal is supporting local racing and helping to increase car counts in weekly divisions.
“This way, we can have a presence all across the province on a regular basis in a way that we never could before,” says Legge.
Adding with a laugh, “And I can support our tracks and stay out of divorce court”
“Gary’s such a phenomenal ambassador for the sport. I’m not sure I’ve ever met anyone as passionate as he is. It’s a pleasure to have him around and I’m excited to help him continue his ‘iron man’ streak”
The Sauble Speedway veteran hopes to continue to build his Legger’s Race Shop enterprise – with a focus on the team’s burgeoning Thunder Car program.
“From a Legger’s Race Shop standpoint – this is going to help us to continue establishing our brand,” explains Legge. “We had some great Thunder Cars on track last season, and I want to continue that trend in 2015. There are so many cars sitting on the sidelines that could be put back into contention with a little bit of TLC. That’s our specialty. That’s what we love doing”
“We’ll be at Full Throttle and Sauble on a regular basis, and Gary will be at every event on the OSCAAR Modified Tour. Once the Playoff Season gets rolling, we’ll be at every one of those events as well. It’s going to be a busy season – but we’re ready for it.”
