NEW HAMBURG, ON- Currently riding a two week streak of top-15 finishes, sophomore competitor Jake Watson is eager to return to competition, in hopes of fashioning a breakout campaign in Sunset Speedway’s Mini Stock division.

“We’ve put a really good program together this season”, said Watson during a recent race night. “Dad and I worked on this car nonstop through the off-season, we’ve really put all we’ve got into this team”

12-year old Watson is the youngest member of the Sunset Mini Stock division, and continues to impress his fellow competitors and industry insiders.

“Everyone in the Mini Stock division has been awesome about welcoming us in”, explained Watson. “It’s our first full season at Sunset, and the first 3 weeks have been great. There a lot of give and take here. Drivers are respectful of one another’s equipment, which definitely goes a long way in a season as long as ours”

The third-generation star recently earned his first career Sunset top-10, an accomplishment he credits to the mentoring and advice he’s received from Spira Fire Protection teammates Samantha Shaw and Billy Schwartzenburg.

“Sam and Billy have been really great helping me out at Sunset. It helps to have a couple teammates in the pits that you can go to if you have questions or need advice. Sunset is a really tough track to figure out, but my teammates have made it a lot easier to get used to”
