In mid-September (2012) Inside Track TV paid a visit to Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway to chat with owner Rob Reeves about the new road course that’s being built at the multi-purpose motorsports facility, located just south of the city. Reeves discusses the building process and some of the vehicles and series we may see there in the future.
The construction of the new 2.7 km track is all the more interesting given last week’s demise of the Edmonton Indy event, at the Edmonton City Centre Airport. It remains to be seen if another sanctioning body, like NASCAR, is willing to fill the void left by the exit of the IndyCar event. In any case, the new road course at Castrol Raceway gives Alberta a dedicated road course, following the closure of Calgary’s Race City.
